Zumba event for charity

PUPILS from a South Normanton school have been breaking out their best dance moves to raise money for charity.

From left are year 10 pupils Rya Hutchinson, Iqra Shah, Shirley Sharples, Holly Brentnall and Demi Chapman from Frederick Gent School, who helped organise the Zumba event to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The event was part of the Sky Sports ‘Living for Sport’ initiative and involved pupils working alongside former Olympic badminton star Anthony Clark who is from Derby.

The scheme, run in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, allows secondary schools to organise events which build confidence and help people get involved in sport.

Danny Thompson, Head of PE said: “We were pleased with the number of students who turned out and we had a really good response from them and the community.

“It was mostly the work of girls from year 10 with just a little bit of staff support.”

The event raised more than £200 for Breast Cancer Awareness.
