Charity Notebook food banks

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Dunkin’ Donuts and Central New York sports teams are teaming up to help food banks stock up on coffee.
Dunkin’ Donuts donated 500 pounds of coffee — enough to brew more than 16,000 cups — to the Food Bank of Central New York and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier as a result of initiatives with the Syracuse Crunch, Syracuse Silver Knights and Cornell men’s hockey team during the 2011-2012 season. The chain donated 1 pound of coffee for every goal scored by the teams.
Dunkin’ Donuts also plans to donate 1 pound of coffee to the Food Bank of Central New York for every run scored by the Syracuse Chiefs during each of the team’s home games at Alliance Bank Stadium this season.
Dunkin’ Donuts and the Chiefs also will provide support this season to Hillside Children’s Center. As part of its “Homers for Hillside” program, Dunkin’ Donuts will donate $1,000 to Hillside to support care for children and families with emotional and behavioral challenges.
