Minogue wants to be a 'good' actress

Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan are due to perform their 1988 hit Especially For You at the Hit Factory Live concert in London next month.

The song sold over a million copies, and was released in the UK in time for Christmas after the on-screen wedding of the pair's respective Neighbours characters.

Other acts performing at the Hit Factory Live include Steps, Rick Astley, Pepsi & Shirlie, Princess, and Sinitta, with a proportion of profits going to Cancer Research UK.

Fans will doubtless be on tenterhooks to see whether Kylie and Jason can recreate their famous chemistry.

Especially For You was Kylie's biggest-selling single in the UK until  2001's Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

It was pipped to the number one spot over Christmas by Cliff Richard, but spent three weeks at the top in early 1989.

The duet is the bestselling Stock Aitken Waterman-penned single ever.

Kylie performed at Monday's Diamond Jubilee concert outside Buckingham palace with the help of Britain's Got Talent dance group Flawless.

She sang her hits Spinning Around, Can't Get You Outta My Head and Step Back in Time, rounding things off with her 2011 number All The Lovers.

The pint-sized star, who appears in Leos Carax's new movie Holy Motors, has expressed a wish to be taken seriously as an actress.

She said: 'I've got a lot of work to do before people stop thinking: 'Oh, what's Kylie Minogue doing in a film?''

Australian pop star - who appears in Leos Carax's new movie 'Holy Motors' - knows it is difficult for people to think of her away from her music career but her latest role has given her the confidence to take on further big screen projects in the future.

She said: 'I've got a lot of work to do before people stop thinking: 'Oh, what's Kylie Minogue doing in a film?'

'But this has made me feel it's possible to do something beautiful and challenging, and to be believable as someone else.'

The 44-year-old star - who first shot to fame appearing in Australian soap 'Neighbours' in 1986 and has appeared in movies including 'The Delinquents' and 'Moulin Rouge! - has a 'deep longing' to do more acting but admits some of her previous work has not been very successful.

She explained to The Guardian newspaper: 'I'd definitely love to do more acting. My heart cries out for it; it's such a deep longing. For years I've been waiting to get back into it and it just hasn't happened.
