Meaty controversy at the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest

Takeru Kobayashi is probably the most famous hot dog eater in world history. However, legal issues with Major League Eating have kept him from competing live at the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest.

So this year the six-time champion will do it on satellite TV.

While the competition will be at Coney Island, New York, Kobayashi, who had his photo taken down from the Nathan's Wall of Fame, will be at mid-town hotel simultaneously chowing down. His stats won't count of course.

"I hope to create awareness about the nature of this kind of business," said Kobayashi, who was arrested in 2010 after appearing out of the crowd and jumping on the stage in protest. "At least they cannot erase history.

We've got controversy once again this year at today's annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest... The most famous eater in the world not be there, but he will still be competing... kinda. No one eats Hot Dogs like Kobayahsi... He won six consecutive Nathan's Famous titles between 2001 and 2006... But because of a contract dispute with Major League Eating, Kobayashi will not be stuffing his face at Coney Island... Last year, Kobayashi was arrested when he arrested we he rushed the stage, trying to crash the event... This year, he will be competing via satellite from a roof-top bar in Manhattan... Major League eating officials say even if Kobayashi eats more hot dogs at that bar than the guys do at Coney Island, they will not recognize him as the champ... This year, 4-time champ Joey Chestnut has got to be your favorite... And by the way, this is the first year that there's a ladies Hot Dog Eating competition.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is keeping busy during the NFL Lockout… by embracing his inner-child! Jackson getting his go-kart and skateboarding on, but there’s one big problem here: Jackson stands to make millions and millions of dollars when he signs a new contract a few months after the Lockout ends, so why is risking ANY kind of off-the-field injury by exposing his ankles and knees to possible twists and sprains. You can bet, the Eagles will write into his new contract that he’ll have to stay way from the skate park.

With the NFL Lockout in Day 115, NFL coaches are inspiring our troops... Check out Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak and former NFL coaches Jim Mora Sr. and Jim Mora Jr. on a USO Tour in Kuwait. Whisenhunt, who said this was one of the greatest experiences of his life, was impressed that the troops would wake up at 2:30 in the morning to watch NFL games during the season. When asked about the NFL Lockout, he assured the troops “Yes, we’re going to have football this season!” For all your latest NFL news, check out SI.com.

If the Michigan State football team goes undefeated at home this season, they can thank the rock band U2... Bono, The Edge and the rest of the guys rocked 65-thousand fans at Spartan Stadium last week, but their 400-ton stage ripped up the Spartans field... So in a previously agreed upon deal, U2 will foot the bill, paying 253-thousand dollars for a new field for Michigan State to play on this fall. The Spartans’ first home game on the new U2 Turf is September 2 against Youngstown State.

We've got a new rollerblade-jump world record. Frenchman Taig Khris jumped 95 feet in front of thousands of fans at Paris' Sacred Heart Monument. And checkout how he celebrates... by adding a flip to the same jump!
